VTU PLUS is an all-in-one platform for VTU students to calculate SGPA, monitor CGPA, and analyze academic performance with ease.
SGPA stands for Semester Grade Point Average, representing a student's average academic performance in a single semester.
CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average, which is a standard measure of a student's overall academic performance across multiple subjects or semesters.
SGPA is calculated using the formula: sum of (credits × grade points) divided by total credits for that semester.
CGPA is calculated by taking the weighted average of SGPA across all semesters.
Yes, you can enter your marks for each semester, and the system will automatically calculate your SGPA and overall CGPA.
No, this tool is completely free and does not require any login or signup.
No, your data is not stored on any server. Everything runs locally in your browser.
SGPA measures performance in a single semester, while CGPA represents the average performance across all semesters.
Yes, you can download your results as a professional PDF report for future reference.
The results are highly accurate as they follow official VTU formulas, but always verify with your university records.
Yes, the calculator supports multiple VTU branches and schemes including 2021, 2022, and 2025 schemes.
Yes, the dashboard provides insights and trends to help you track your academic performance across semesters.
An Open Elective Course (OEC) is a subject that a student chooses from a department or discipline other than their own branch. It is designed to provide multidisciplinary knowledge and help students explore concepts outside their core field of study.

Example:
• A Computer Science student choosing "Digital Marketing" or "Renewable Energy" as an elective.
• A Mechanical Engineering student choosing a basic AI or Data Science course.

OEC helps students gain broader knowledge and improve interdisciplinary skills.
A Professional Elective Course (PEC) is an elective subject selected within the student's own branch or discipline. These courses allow students to specialize in areas of interest related to their core engineering field.

Example:
• A Computer Science student selecting "Machine Learning" or "Cloud Computing."
• An Electronics student selecting "VLSI Design."

PEC courses help students build advanced knowledge and specialization in their chosen domain.
An Emerging Technology Course (ETC) focuses on modern and rapidly evolving technologies that are transforming industries and society. Some common areas include:
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML)
• Internet of Things (IoT) & Cloud Computing
• Blockchain & Cyber Security
• Data Science

The objective of ETCs is to prepare students for future technological advancements and industry requirements.
An Engineering Science Course (ESC) provides the scientific and mathematical foundations required for engineering studies. These courses generally include:
• Engineering Mathematics
• Physics & Chemistry
• Basic Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Engineering Mechanics

ESC subjects help students understand the scientific principles behind engineering concepts and applications.
A Soft Skills Course focuses on personal, communication, and professional development skills that are essential in the workplace. Topics may include:
• Communication & Presentation Skills
• Teamwork & Leadership
• Time Management & Problem Solving
• Interview & Group Discussion Skills

These courses improve employability and professional effectiveness.
An Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) is designed to improve students' overall capabilities beyond technical knowledge. Objectives include:
• Enhancing communication skills & language proficiency
• Developing critical thinking & problem solving
• Building professional ethics, values, and personality development

AECs help students become industry-ready and socially responsible professionals.
VTU follows a 10-point grading system for evaluating student performance:

O (Outstanding): 90 – 100% | Grade Point: 10
A+ (Excellent): 80 – 89% | Grade Point: 9
A (Very Good): 70 – 79% | Grade Point: 8
B+ (Good): 60 – 69% | Grade Point: 7
B (Above Average): 55 – 59% | Grade Point: 6
C (Average): 50 – 54% | Grade Point: 5
P (Pass): 40 – 49% | Grade Point: 4
F (Fail): Below 40% | Grade Point: 0

A student must generally obtain at least 40% marks in a subject to pass. You can read the detailed breakdown in our VTU CBCS Grading System Guide.
No. Subjects that carry 0 credits are not considered while calculating SGPA or CGPA. Only subjects with assigned credits contribute to the calculation.
Yes. For subjects such as Major Project Phase-II, Capstone Project Phase-II, and Industry Internship, the total marks may be 200, but VTU scales them according to the prescribed credit structure during SGPA/CGPA calculation.
PEC and OEC courses are mandatory components of the VTU curriculum. They help students:
• Gain specialization in their own field (PEC).
• Explore other disciplines and develop multidisciplinary knowledge (OEC).
• Improve industry readiness and career opportunities.
